Welcome to Vol. 5 Number 03 of the Radio H.F. Internet Newsletter. Previous issues of this newsletter can be found at www.anarc.org/cidx/radiohf/ [right here! — Ed.].

Welcome to the March edition of the Newsletter. Our Monthly Special Zone features a number of events, including the Winter SWL Festival, Mardi Gras and Carnival, and believe it or not, Shrove Tuesday!

As we head into March, the world watches closely as we come closer to war in the Middle East. I have included a few sites dealing with the subject in this month's General Zone. Should a full-scale war break out between regular issues of this newsletter, I will look at compiling and distributing a special edition newsletters [as he did in September 2001 — Ed.] featuring websites dealing with the war. All I can say is that I hope I don't have to do this.

Welcome aboard to any new subscribers joining us this month. Feel free to contribute material from time to time. Thank you for joining the group.

Note: The Radio HF publications catalog has been completely updated to 25 February 2003. Please feel free to browse through it. I am sure you will find some books, CD-roms, or other materials that will be of interest to you. The catalog is available on-line at the following URL: www.anarc.org/cidx/radiohf/Cat2003Feb.html.

Finally, you may notice that one of the regular items which has been appearing in the Resources Zone is no longer there. A few weeks ago, after almost 10 years of being net controller, I have given up the weekly Montreal DX Listeners' Net on the two-metre band here in Montreal. I would like to thank all of those who participated in the net over 10 years helping to make it successful; approximately 500 different amateur operators and countless shortwave listeners and DXers who participated through the gateway services. It was a wonderful experience which I will remember fondly, but it was time to move on to other things.

The February Survey results

Thanks to the 35 people who responded to our question from last month on traveling. We wanted to know how many countries, including the one you live in, have you visited in your lifetime. Here are the results:
a) 1 to 5 countries: 11 people
b) 6 to 10 countries: 9 people
c) 11 to 20 countries: 10 people
d) 21 to 30 countries: 3 people
e) 30 or more countries: 2 people

The March Survey

OK, everyone, let's talk about vices. All of us have at least one! A "vice," in the dictionary, is defined as "a moral depravity; evil; an immoral action, trait; a habitual, trivial, failing or defect; shortcoming." Sounds pretty sad, doesn't it? It might be good or bad for you. It could be hot fudge sundaes, addiction to the Internet, Godzilla films, watching Wheel of Fortune, whatever. It might be embarrassing and you may hate to admit to it, but now's the time to come clean, with all your friends worldwide, here in the Newsletter.

I'll even go first and tell you mine. Since I was a young kid and, believe it or not, still today, I am an addicted fan of professional wrestling. Yes, that's right! Go ahead and laugh. My mother was a huge fan and I was brought up with it, and it stuck. It's nothing more than frivolous entertainment for me; an escape from the real world. There, I feel better now. A weight has been taken off my shoulders.

So, what is your vice? Keep it to just one, please, even though you may have many of them. Take this all in the spirit in which it is meant and have some fun with it. I can't wait to see the responses. Please send along your response by e-mail to hfnewsletter@yahoo.com.
