Introduction

Disclaimer: The content and comments included in the websites featured in this newsletter are those of the individuals, groups or organizations responsible for each website. They do not necessarily represent those of the editor, unless specifically noted.

Welcome to volume 2 number 07 of the Radio H.F. Internet Newsletter. I would also like to remind everyone that all previous issues of this newsletter can be found at www.anarc.org/cidx/radiohf/index.html [right here! -- Ed.].

Things are starting to get back to normal after having relocated my business from the storefront back to my home. Trying to fit five years worth of accumulated boxes, files, etc., into the house has been quite a task, but finally things are just about where they belong. At least the move forced me to do some major clean-up work that needed to be done for some time.

Thanks to everyone who took a few moments to send along a note or make a phone call to wish me luck with the new undertaking.

Working from home again is somewhat distracting. You must discipline yourself as it is very easy to get pulled away from work to attend to other more domestic matters. At least the commuting time is great!

This month, in the Publicity Zone for Radio H.F., I will be focusing on batteries, of all types. Not only batteries for your handheld radios, but for pretty much any types of equipment which use Nicad, NiMH, lithium ion, or other forms of rechargeable batteries. I deal with an excellent manufacturer of batteries for radios, camcorders, laptop computers, cordless and cellular telephones. Batteries are an expensive necessity. I have found that dealing directly with a manufacturer can save all of us a lot of money. More on this in the Publicity Zone.

Now, on to this month's material. Thank you to all our contributors. Any comments which you may have about the Newsletter are always appreciated. Please consider sending along some of your favourite sites to share with our readers. Each contributor is entitled to a 2% discount off of their next purchase from Radio H.F.

All subscribers' e-mail addresses are kept private and confidential. To add or remove yourself from the distribution list of this newsletter, simply contact Sheldon by e-mail at ve2shw@yahoo.com.

July 2000 Feature Products -- Advanced Battery Systems (Periphex)

Several months ago I talked about Advanced Battery Systems for replacement batteries for your handheld amateur radios. Radio H.F. has been dealing with Advanced for 5 years now.

In addition to their line of battery packs for HTs, they are also a major outlet for batteries for other products such as commercial radios, cellular & cordless telephones, laptop computers, camcorders, plus they also manufacture custom made packs.

Don't pay high prices for brand name batteries when you can purchase from Radio H.F. at manufacturers prices. Simply send me an e-mail with the various models of equipment you have with rechargeable battery packs, and I'll forward you a quotation on a replacement pack from Advanced Battery Systems. You won't believe the money you will save.

Advanced Battery also offers a great product, their Universal Battery Charger. It will charge 4.8 to 12v battery packs, either NiCD or NiMH packs for all types of equipment. It is a rapid charger and it also discharges packs. Radio H.F. offers this unique product for $79.00.

To check out all the products available from Advanced Battery Systems, check out their brand new website (www.advanced-battery.com), then call Radio H.F. for Canadian price quotations on any of the products you may be looking for. We have had great success with the Advanced Battery products and find them an excellent company to work with.
