Disclaimer: The content and comments included in the websites featured in this newsletter are those of the individuals, groups or organizations responsible for each website. They do not necessarily represent those of the editor, unless specifically noted.

Welcome to Vol. 1 Number 8 of the Radio H.F. Internet Newsletter. Don't forget that copies of the previous issues of the newsletter can be found at www.anarc.org/cidx/radiohf/index.html (right here! -- Ed.). As we head into the autumn of 1999, we begin to think of indoor activities. Radio and the Internet both fall into the indoor category. With more of you spending more time at the radio or at the computer, the information in this Newsletter should be even more useful to you. I encourage all of you to take a few moments to send along one or two of your favourite websites to share with our readers. Remember that having your name appear on the Contributors' List entitles you to a 2% discount on your next purchase from Radio H.F.

If you would like to submit material for future editions of the Newsletter, simply e-mail me with your name, location and the URL of the site, and include a brief description of the site.

We welcome another group of new subscribers to our distribution list this month. As always, your e-mail address will not be made public. Our distribution list is private and confidential. To remove yourself from the distribution list of this newsletter, simply contact me by e-mail.

Lots of interesting material again this month, so let's get to it without further delay.

September 1999 Feature Product
Sony Shortwave Receivers

The leading name in portable shortwave radio equipment and technology today is Sony. Grundig and Sangean have produced numerous shortwave radio models over the years, but few, if any, have been able to match the performance and quality of Sony. Two models in particular are the standards which all other competitors are measured against: the ICF-SW7600G, and the old workhorse, the ICF-2010.

The ICF-2010 has been on the market for about 15 years, and is probably the most popular portable shortwave radio in the world known for its unique design, high quality and excellent performance.

The ICF-SW7600G, although a newer model, and more compact, is probably the best value for the dollar for anyone looking for high performance from a compact portable.

Both radios feature Sony's trademark "synchronous detection" circuit, a technological wonder in portable radio equipment. Most Sony shortwave radios are also guaranteed for 3 years, something not seen from the competition.

Radio H.F. is an authorized Sony dealer, offering the complete line of Sony shortwave equipment. More importantly we know and understand the product, unlike so many other retailers. To view all the Sony shortwave, or "World Band" radios, as Sony likes to call them, please check the Sony website for shortwave products at http://products.sony.ca/prodcat/CategoryPage.jhtml?Cgname=WORLDBAND&FullPath=CE,RADIOS. You will find an overview, features, specification and accessory information listed. Note that the prices on the Sony website are the MSRP or Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price, while Radio H.F.'s prices are below.
