To our friends in the southeastern US and the Caribbean, I'm sure I join with all of our subscribers in wishing you the best in recovering from a devastating month of hurricanes. Although the season is not officially over, let's hope that you make it through the rest of the season uneventfully. This month's Monthly Special Zone features some web sites dedicated to the upcoming U.S. election. This stands to be one of the most closely contested elections in U.S. history. I've also included some links relating to Halloween, World Rainforest Week, and World Food Day. As many of you know, my wife and I are very active birders. We have also got into something reasonably new in the birding world, namely "digiscoping." This is taking digital photographs through high powered spotting scopes. I've taken the liberty of including a link, in the Fun and Services Zone, to two photo albums showcasing some of our early results. We'd love to hear what you think of them. *************************************************** CONTENTS THE MONTHLY SURVEY THE COMMENTS ZONE THE CONTRIBUTORS ZONE THE MONTHLY SPECIAL ZONE THE OCTOBER ZONE THE RADIO ZONE THE GENERAL ZONE THE FUN & SERVICES ZONE THE HAMFEST/FLEAMARKET AND SPECIAL EVENTS ZONE THE RESOURCES ZONE *************************************************** THE MONTHLY SURVEY LAST MONTH'S SURVEY Last month's survey question dealt with pets. The question: "What pets do you have?" We had a little under 20 responses to the question, with the large majority being dog owners, including chow, poodle, beagle, shih-tzu, golden retriever, collie, Labrador retriever, Shetland sheepdog, etc. There were just two cat owners and three with various birds as pets. THIS MONTH'S SURVEY This month, we'll focus back on recent history. Here in 2004, we have so many wonderful technological tools, developments, inventions, etc. that help to make life better, more interesting and more simplified. So, let's look back on our own personal life-time. Our question is this: In your personal time on this planet, what has been the most important, influential or life-changing development or invention to have an impact on your daily life? (examples: Personal computers, the Internet, cellular telephones, maybe a new medicine or medical treatment that has helped you personally, etc.) Please send your response, by e-mail, to hfnewsletter@yahoo.com **************************************************** THE COMMENTS ZONE No comments this month ***************************************************** THE CONTRIBUTORS ZONE The contributions continue to be low. Although up a little from last month, we only have six different contributors to this edition. It would be great to see more support. Thanks to those for their continued support and efforts.
